I want to greet you today with the typical Chinese greeting, which a public speaker uses to greet his or her audience.  Dàjiā hǎo.  The usual translation of this is just “Hello everyone”.  But it’s more literal rending is something like “Hello Big family !”.  Dàjiā hǎo.

Traditionally, the Chinese have placed a particularly high value on families.  When we adopted our daughter from China, we expanded our own family, and, we supposed, we connected ourselves to the larger Chinese cultural family.  [download id=”254″]
