The Entrance House Gallery
About the Gallery
The vision of the church’s Art Committee, chaired by artist Jay McLauchlan, the majestic Entrance House, redesigned in 1868 with its soaring curved stairway, was dedicated as a gallery in 2023.
The Gallery offers a welcoming space well suited to the display of works of art of diverse media and serves as an important exhibition venue for local artists, sculptors, and photographers.

Fall 2023
Gallery Opens
The Gallery opened with the work of long-time GUUC member Carl Furlong whose oils and watercolors reflect his decades of keen observation and involvement with Gloucester’s maritime community.
December 2023
Group Show
A group show featuring the work of more than a dozen artists demonstrating the depth of talent represented by members of the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church. Work included painting, prints, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and photography.
January 2024
Kathleen Williams
Local writer and photographer Kathleen Williams shared a series of images and poetry reflecting her deep connection to the concept of place here on Cape Ann and in time spent in New Hampshire, Provincetown, and Canada.

Jim Seavey
First exhibited in Nashville, Tennessee in 2016, Jim Seavey’s 20 photographs offer a colorful and heartwarming glimpse into the lives of members of more than 20 Unitarian churches in the far flung villages of North East India in the Khasi Hills in the state of Meghalaya.

Ted Hoague
Local artist Ted Hoague’s series of portraits fill the Entrance House from top to bottom in a breathtaking installation. From full length canvases to close up details, self-portraits to friends and neighbors, Ted has captured the essence of each one of his subjects.
